These terms and conditions (the “Form”) apply to the Try Off Road Taupō event (the “Event”) and associated activities conducted by Reardon & Co Events (the “Operator”).
Please read this entire Form carefully before signing (or, in the case of online
acceptance, by electronically checking the box below). Each participant, or if the
participant is not over 18 years of age, a parent/natural guardian/legal guardian of
the minor participant (the ‘Minor’), must sign this Form. By completing this Form, I
acknowledge my acceptance (and my acceptance on behalf of the Minor, if
applicable) of the terms and conditions set out in this Form. “I” or “me” refers to
either myself as the participant or on behalf of the Minor if applicable. Where
accepting on behalf of the Minor, I agree to explain the terms and conditions set out
in this Form to the Minor.
YOUR RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Before the Event, I may inspect the race course, equipment, and areas to be
used. I will immediately advise the Operator or an Event official if I believe
that such equipment or areas are unsafe. I accept that activities take place
on premises or at facilities not owned or controlled by the Operator.
It is my responsibility to ensure that I am sufficiently fit, of good physical and
mental health, and capable of participating in the Event (without causing
harm to myself or others). I confirm that:
o I am in good health and proper physical and mental condition to
participate in the Event;
o I have not been advised by a qualified medical person that I should
not participate in the Event;
o I am otherwise not aware of any medical or other matter that would
render it unsafe for me to take part in the Event.
If I am pregnant, I will obtain written confirmation from a qualified medical
doctor that it is safe for me to participate in the specific Event, dated no
earlier than 10 days prior to the Event, and to have that confirmation with
me at Athlete Check-In.
I am responsible for the security of my possessions at the Event and the
Operator will not be liable for damage to or replacement of these
possessions.
I agree to follow all directions and take any precautions set forth or
recommended by the Operator or Event officials.
I accept that if my actions result in a Search and Rescue effort being
undertaken, I will be liable for the costs. I also understand that I will be
contacted via email by Reardon & Co Events from time to time regarding
upcoming events and promotions.
YOUR RISKS:
In consideration of and as a condition of acceptance of entry in the Event, and by
subsequently participating in the Event, I acknowledge that:
Participation in the Event may involve exposure to the risk of injury, death,
permanent disability, or damage to my property. Such injury or loss may
result from my actions, the actions of others, or negligence.
Prior to participating in the Event, I will do all things within my control to make
myself aware of all risks or potential risks involved, including risks
associated with any health condition I have.
The following describes some, but not all, of the inherent risks to participation in the
Event:
Outdoor and environmental risks: Exposure to inclement weather, wildlife,
insects, and natural hazards.
Equipment risks: The risk of malfunction or improper use of equipment.
Participation risks: Injury from other participants, tripping, falling, or
encountering road/trail hazards.
Location risks: Delays or difficulties in communication, transportation, or
medical care due to the events location.
ACCEPTANCE OF RISK AND RELEASE (ALL PARTICIPANTS):
To the extent allowed by applicable law, I accept all risks associated with my
participation in the Event that could result in injury and/or death.
I acknowledge that the Operator and all its Associates are not liable for the
actions of other participating athletes in the Event.
Any dispute or claim arising in connection with this Form or participation in the
Event will be governed by the law of New Zealand. I agree to resolve any
dispute by binding arbitration conducted in Taupo, New Zealand.
FORCE MAJEURE; EVENT CANCELLATION:
I hereby agree that in the case of event cancellation due to extreme inclement
weather (at the discretion of event officials), natural disasters, pandemic
outbreaks, or any other reasons beyond the Event Director’s control (force
majeure), my entry fee shall be entirely non-refundable.
CONSENTS AND PRIVACY:
I consent to the collection and use of my name, image, and personal
information for promotional purposes by the Operator and its sponsors.
I understand that my race results, name, and other details may be publicly
available.
I consent to medical treatment and emergency evacuation, should it be
required, and agree to cover any costs related to medical treatment.
TRY OFF ROAD TAUPO TERMS AND CONDITIONS
ATHLETE WITHDRAWALS
All entries are non-refundable. In the case of the event being cancelled for reasons
of health, safety or natural disasters, entry fees will not be refunded.
Additional purchases made during registration (if any) and paid to third parties are
non-refundable. These include:Pre-purchased merchandise, Transport
Please note: This event takes place in Taupo, New Zealand. It is the athletes
responsibility to ensure they can attend (including Athlete Check-In during the
specified times) and compete on the event day. Other than as outlined in the Athlete
Withdrawal program above, no further remedies will be provided for change of mind,
personal circumstances (including work conflicts), or injury. If you decide to withdraw
after collecting your race bib at Check-In, please notify Event Information onsite. If
you need to withdraw on race day, your details must be recorded by Event Staff at
Event Information.
TRANSFER YOUR ENTRY TO A DIFFERENT DISTANCE
Athletes can request to transfer their entry to a different race distance (either shorter
or longer) until the race distance is sold out, subject to the following terms:
To request a transfer from one race distance to another, can only be made and accepted up until 5:00pm (NZT) on 21st November 2025. No Person-to-Person transfers will be accepted after this date.Logging into your registration and finding ‘Change competition’ on your dashboard. Transferring to a greater distance: If space is available, the athlete will need to pay the difference in entry fees between the two distances. Transferring to a shorter distance: If space is available, the athlete will not receive a refund for the difference in entry fees.
TRANSFER YOUR ENTRY TO SOMEONE ELSE
Athletes can transfer their race entry to another person in accordance with the
following terms:
Person-to-Person transfers are accepted up until 5:00pm (NZT) on 21st
November 2025. No Person-to-Person transfers will be accepted after this
date.
A transfer fee of $20 NZD (including all fees and taxes) will be charged to the athlete taking the existing spot.
Athletes may transfer their entry to someone else within the same distance event
entered. Additional purchases made during registration are not transferable. Please
refer to the withdrawal policy for non-refundable items.
It is not possible to transfer your entry to someone else in a different race distance
(e.g., Off Road Triathlon to 50KM, or 50KM to 26KM).
To transfer an entry to another athlete, Log into your registration and you will find a ‘transfer to a friend’ on your dashboard. Please note: the receiving athlete will be sent a link to complete their registration and will need to pay the entry fee at the current price. Once payment is made, the original athletes will be refunded their entry fee minus the $30 NZD transfer fee.
Important: As stated in the Athlete Waiver, under no circumstances may you give
your race bib to another person. The safety of our athletes is paramount, and we
must ensure accurate athlete details are recorded for the event.

There is no deferral option available for this event.
